Skijoring at Arrowhead for 2011

For those of you who know us at The Bike Shop in Gravenhurst, there's another passion besides the bicycle. Skijoring is a great way to get out and enjoy winter with your pet. What is skijoring? A sport in which a cross-country skier is attached by harnesses to one or more dogs. The sport is growing in intrest. We plan to make it larger as we scheduled 4 days of skijoring for Arrowhead Provincial Park in Huntsville. January 16th, February 6th, March 13th, and April 3rd. Times are from 10am to 3pm. For those with or without dogs are welcome to come out and join in the fun at Arrowhead. If you don't have the equipment we'll have gear to borrow. Instruction is available to teach you and your dog the best way to start skijoring.

the Pugsleys are Here!

It was but a week ago when I arrived to the store to find a lonely Donnie leaning against the bike bar with a long face. All it took to put a smile on that face was a FAT bike. A Surly Pugsley. Pretty neat, a bike that will conquer anything, snow, sand, moss, and a long faced fella.

If you have ever tried to ride a bike in the snow you quickly find out how difficult it is. Surly produces a bicycle that makes riding in snow, or anything soft for that matter, better. They should be here in about a weeks time. Come in and check them out.

Dates to Remember:

High Noon Showdown: October 17th at Buckwallow. Test you skills and time against yourself and others. Its a fun race set up the same way as a road bike time trial but in the woods on a mountain bike. Free to enter, prizes and ride to follow. Register before 11:30am on October 17th. Call the shop to sign up or on the day of. Start time is 12-noon.
Full Moon Night Ride: October 23rd at Torrence Barrens. Start time 6:30pm at the Barrens. If you haven't checked out this spot, this would be a great night to find out what it's all about. The moon should be full so hopefully lights won't be needed too much.

FUR-ocious SALE

If you have been to The Bike Shop in Gravenhurst, you will know our greeters. Maverick, Goose and Yukon. With these lovely greeters comes a lot of fur.
